Where rescued animals become healers
More than 60 rescued animals — horses, cows, goats, sheep, donkeys, mules, chickens, and ducks — call Samrock Stables home. Here, rescue goes both ways: animals who were given a second chance become therapy companions for special-needs children, kids working through autism and anxiety, veterans living with PTSD, and people facing illness and trauma.
It's the healing power of animals and land, shared with the whole community — through farm tours, classes, lessons, camps, and quiet one-on-one time with the herd.
Partners in life, partners on the farm
Angel and Jules Angelov — husband and wife, best friends, and partners for more than 32 years — do everything on this farm side by side. In 2022 they founded Angel & Jules' Not-So-Ordinary Farm at Samrock Stables, and they've been rescuing, healing, and teaching here ever since.
Jules' roots run deep
Jules is a fourth-generation farmer and equestrian. Horses are quite literally in her blood: her grandfather trained horses alongside General Patton, and her mother began motherhood in the winner's circle at Monmouth Park. And before the farm became her full-time calling, Jules trained as a nurse — a Student Nurse Ambassador alumna of UMDNJ. Healer at heart, on and off the farm.
When she isn't in the barn, you'll find her elbow-deep in the things she loves:
The fight — and the comeback
When the farm's future was challenged, Jules and Angel fought a two-year battle to keep it — and won, unanimously. In April 2026 they threw open the gates for a grand reopening. Today the farm is in full comeback: more animals rescued, more veterans and special-needs kids reached, and more of the community welcomed in than ever. We fought for this farm — and won.

From the Winner's Circle
Before the rescue herd, there were racehorses. Samrock Stables, LLC is a registered Thoroughbred owner — and raising Thoroughbreds is how the farm began in 2023.

Jersey Perfection
Their standard-bearer is JERSEY PERFECTION — a New Jersey-bred gelding by Mission Impazible who carried Samrock's colors with pride:
The homecoming
The best finish came after the finish line: Jersey Perfection is retired home at Samrock now, and Jules walks him around the farm — the Asbury Park Press photographed them together in January 2025. And the next generation is already here: the Thoroughbred filly Giuliana, at her mother Ego's side.
None of it is an accident — racing is in Jules' blood. Her mother began motherhood in the Monmouth Park winner's circle, and her grandfather trained horses alongside General Patton. Around here, the winner's circle is a family place.
